Banamex Exhibitions

Fomento Cultural Banamex – the cultural arm of Citibanamex – was one of the sponsors for the publication of the book.  In recognition of their involvement, Fomento Cultural Banamex staged exhibitions of selected photographs from the book in several of the bank’s historic properties (Casas Señorales) across the nation.

In July of 2019, the first exhibition was held at la Casa del Mayorazgo de la Canal,* in San Miguel de Allende. The second exhibition opened 28 November 2019 in el Palacio del Conde del Valle de Súchil, in Durango. [*For the English-language version of the program, you may need to translate the page.]

The third exhibition, at la Casa Montejo in Mérida, originally scheduled for the spring of 2020, was postponed due to the Covid pandemic. It did finally open in May 2022 and remained until October 2022.

The final venue for the Fomento Cultural Banamex exhibition of selected photographs will be in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas. The exhibition will be installed at the Centro de Textiles del Mundo Maya (centrotextilesmayas.org/) in the Exconvento de Santo Domingo de Guzman at the beginning of May, 2023, and will remain in place until mid-summer. On Thursday May 4, 2023 at 12:00 noon, Beverley Spears will speak about the importance of the sixteenth century conventos of Mexico and her work in researching and documenting them.
